The Basic Summer Wardrobe
I'm not really a girl intrigued by fashion, shopping for clothes or shoes is always stressful and enervating, and I always end up buying basics or white shirts way too similar to the ones I already own. However I'm a girl and all girls like pretty clothes, and even if finding the perfect ones is a bit more difficult with me, I still managed to gather a few pieces I recently bought and that I really like, which not only are super cute in my opinion, but really embody of my own style when it comes to fashion: comfy but feminine.
I like purchasing basic pieces which can always pair good with anything else in my closet instead of buying fancy tops which I would only wear once in a life time. When I shop I always think of what I already have in my closet and what can pair nicely with it, so I don't ever end up with something I won't ever wear. The fact that I always tend to go for the same style of clothes is somehow positive if you think this way I never end up with something different I may would never wear! You'll notice I'm loving blacks, whites and neutral colours lately...
When I need new clothes H&M is my safe place; their prices are pretty fair and never too expensive, and all in all, even if their materials are not the best out there sometimes, they always have something for me and a lot of their offerings really fit with my style while being good quality and looking pretty good. I recently talked about their White Satin Blouse (£12.99) in a dedicated post here; this shirt really embodies my style with the feminine cut and the soft fabric while being also very comfortable and fitting perfectly. I love wearing this with some random black or blue skinny jeans, and I adore its loose sleeves which are oh so flattering. Also from H&M I'm loving both their White Jersey Top (£6.99) and Black Satin Top (£12.99) which are both nice fabric especially the latter which is so beautiful with that kind of crossed back and V neck.
Summertime means comfy dresses time and I have built quite the collection during these years so I don't really need any other dresses in my closet right now but I just couldn't help myself with buying this adorable H&M Jersey Dress (£7.99) which is so inexpensive for its super nice facture and fabric, and it has the most flattering cut of all. I have the black and white pois version which is not available online but which I still find in shops, but I'm really craving the striped one as well. Another recent purchase is this beautiful ASOS Swing Dress in Daisy Mono Print (£22) which has actually a shape that doesn't fit me the best on its own, but with a belted waist (I love braided belts like this one) it fit my body like a glove and it's just lovely with the black and white daisy print.
And lastly for shoes I've just bought this ASOS Journey Espadrilles (£10) which are THE steal being so inexpensive but are so cute and comfortable and always look good with every outfit. I love the anchor details (actually I love anchors) and even if I'm not a huge fan of espadrilles, I actually quite like the subtle style of these and the white sewing on the sides. H&M is not always the place for shoes but if you're looking for a super inexpensive option they have a huge selection of cute offerings, and even if they're not always the best in quality, they'll last for sure for a complete season and I don't know about you but I always change my tastes every season and always end up buying new shoes every summer, so I definitely prefer spending a bit less even if it means they won't last years, because I won't use them the next year. I bought those cute tan ballerinas with those aztec-y cut outs which are super comfortable and look cute on - but I can't find the online.
What are your summer style staples?
